Does your pet need surgery?
At Effingham Animal Hospital, we are proud of our exceptional surgical care. We also understand that as a loving pet parent, bringing your companion in for an operation can be nerve wracking. That’s why we’ve gone above and beyond to improve the experience for both our patients and their owners. Our doctor is experienced at performing both routine and complex procedures. We use modern techniques and always adhere to the strictest protocols. Most importantly, the safety and comfort of our patients tops our list of priorities. You can feel confident entrusting us with all of your best friend’s surgical care needs.
Before Your Pet’s Surgery
One of the most important components of a successful surgery is preparation. When we can plan ahead, we are able to vastly reduce the chances of complications during surgery. This makes for a much safer experience for your pet. This is why we place such a strong emphasis on pre-surgical screening. We also plan ahead to keep your pet as comfortable as possible by developing a customized pain management plan.
The Day of Surgery
When you drop your companion off the morning of surgery, we’ll be waiting to welcome him or her with open arms. We want to make the process as calm and stress-free as possible. You are encouraged to bring up any last minute questions or concerns as we get your loved one settled in and ready for surgery.
Just prior to the procedure, we will carefully sedate your pet and prepare our monitoring equipment. These tools will allow us to keep a close watch on your companion’s vital signs, ensuring his or her wellbeing throughout the procedure. The doctor will work with great care and precision to keep surgery time to a minimum. Meanwhile, our dedicated support staff will be on hand to assist in any way. Your pet will have our undivided attention.
Once surgery is complete, your pet will be moved to our hospitalization area. There monitoring will continue as the anesthesia begins to wear off. You will be contacted and advised how the procedure went as well as when your pet will be ready to be picked up. Before bringing your pet home, we will go over any aftercare instructions we may have. The goal is to get your companion back on his or her feet as quickly and painlessly as possible.
If your pet needs surgery, give us a call. We’ve got you covered!
